What is a Dental Appliance?
Brushing and flossing is just one aspect of maintaining excellent oral health. Some of us clench or grind our teeth, snore, or play sports. For these patients, dental appliances can help protect and preserve our oral structures, and our overall physical health.
At Anchor Dental Group, we offer dental appliances such as sleep apnea and mouth guards, which are used to help improve and protect the health of your oral cavity.
Snoring & Sleep Apnea Appliances
Sleep disorders can interrupt your sleep and negatively impact your overall health and wellbeing
In patients who snore, their throat tissues relax and cause their airway to restrict, producing the sound we know as snoring as oxygen is forced through. For patients with sleep apnea, their throat tissues over-relax and block the airway, prompting the brain to wake them so they can breathe.
At Anchor Dental Group, we offer custom-fitted oral appliances to move the tongue muscles and lower jaw so the airway remains open. This helps improve your air flow and keeps you from waking up throughout the night.
Custom-Fitted Mouth Guards
We offer custom-made mouth guards to fit over your teeth and protect them from damage.
Sports Guards
A mouth guard provides a barrier between your teeth and your mouth's soft tissue in case you get hit in the mouth during a sports activity. This will help to protect your smile from injury.
Night Guards
Do you grind your teeth while you sleep? A mouth guard can help protect your teeth from damage. If clenching the jaw is your issue, a mouth guard will also help prevent you from clenching and provide some pain relief.
