What is Dental Sedation?
Dental sedation refers to a variety of techniques and medications used to make patients more comfortable during dental procedures. Our dentists can help determine if a dental sedation option is right for you.
At Anchor Dental Group, we do everything we can to help patients feel relaxed and comfortable during their dental appointments. In addition to offering sedation options, we will work at your pace, take breaks when you need them, and provide calm reassurance as needed.
Dental Anxiety
If you get anxious about seeing the dentist, you're not alone. Even those who visit the dentist on a regular basis still sometimes feel anxious about it.
For patients who get significantly nervous about dental procedures, who need complex treatment, have time constraints, or have a severe gag reflex, we may recommend nitrous oxide sedation.
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
Also known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide calms patients even though they remain awake and able to communicate.
When inhaled through the mouth and nose, it tends to increase pain threshold, lessen anxiety, reduce gag reflex, and make time pass more quickly. Although nitrous oxide can cause you to feel somewhat giggly, once you stop breathing it in, it wears off quickly.
